When is the event and where is it held?

CanForum is held on Tuesday 11 September 2018 at Parliament House Canberra.

How do I register and when does registration close?

Registrations can be made online here. Registrations will be closed on Wednesday 5 September 2018 (unless sold out). Please make sure you book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.  

How much are tickets and what is included?

Tickets to CanForum 2018 are as follows:
Corporate $350
Government, Academics and Clinicians $150
Patient Groups & General Public $60
Patients & Carers $25

Ticket prices include morning tea and lunch.

What is the discount code I see when I register online? Am I eligible?

From time to time, RCA may have a promotion for an event which may include a discount. If this is so, information on how to access the code and eligibility will be made available on our website. Currently, there is no promotion or discount available

What if I can no longer attend? Can I send a substitute or do you offer a refund?

Cancellations occurring less than seven (7) days prior to an event will incur a 10 per cent administration fee. Cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to an event will forfeit full payment. Substitutes can be made at any time. Please read our Terms and Conditions for our refund policy.

How many attendees do you anticipate at this year’s Forum?

CanForum 2018 is expected to attract around 250 attendees. Attendees from the pharmaceutical, health, corporate, education and government sectors, other patient and advocacy groups, along with patients and their families.

Who are the speakers for this year’s Forum?

With an exceptional line up of speakers, the day will be highly informative and thought provoking  This is a great opportunity to engage with thought leaders in health technology.

CanForum is excited to welcome Dr Norman Swan as MC along with keynote speakers; The Hon. Greg Hunt MP Minister for Health, Minister for Sport, Federal Member for Flinders and Catherine King MP, Shadow Minister for Health and Medicare.

Is there an opportunity to network with speakers and other attendees?

Held as an all-day conference, the Forum includes a series of dynamic presentations throughout the day. Morning tea break and the Meet the Patients Lunch, provide ample opportunities to network with speakers, other attendees, MPs and patients. 

What are the featured topics for this year’s Forum?

CanForum 2018 focuses on intelligence in health and the challenges and possibilities that ensue. New technologies are rapidly changing our understanding of healthcare. CanForum 2018 brings together a breadth of high profile speakers in the fields of artificial intelligence, bioethics, blockchain, genomics, clinical research, industry and politics. Can I download a copy of the official event program?

A downloadable version of the event program will be made available shortly. Event attendees will receive a hard copy of the program on the day. View the day's program online here.

I am travelling from interstate, what is the best accommodation?

There are many places to stay in Canberra, depending on your preferences, budget and length of stay. Hotels in the Woden Area, Inner South (Kingston, Griffith, Forrest, Red Hill), and City are all reasonably close to Parliament House and accessible via a short drive, taxi or public transport. I am a patient, can my travel and accommodation be subsidised?

RCA can offer limited travel support for patients who have been diagnosed with a rare or less common cancer. To be considered for travel and accommodation support we need to ascertain that you are a patient diagnosed with a rare or less common cancer. Apologies for having to clarify the matter as you can appreciate we have a limited budget and need to make sure we are fulfilling and meeting our responsibilities and our core cause.

Are there discounts offered for multiple ticket purchases?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer discounts for multiple ticket purchases. We work hard to ensure ticket prices cover our expenses and are also reasonable for audience. 

What is the security process to gain access into Parliament House?

Parliament House security is similar to airport security. All attendees will be required to go through security screening at the public entrance of Parliament House.

ALL CanForum guests will have their names listed at the sign-in desk in the public entrance (Marble Foyer) and will be required to sign in with photo identification at this desk. A visitor pass to enter the conference will be given to all attendees. Morning tea and lunch will be held in Mural Hall, which is only accessible via private areas of Parliament House. The visitor pass allows guests to access the public areas of Parliament House (Marble Foyer, Lecture Theatre, Queens Terrace Café) however, access to any other areas of Parliament House (including Mural Hall) must be with an escort (Parliament House security and RCA staff with orange lanyards).

Due to CanForum being held in a sitting week and access delays from Parliament House renovations, guests will need to allow at least 30 minutes for security screening and sign in.

Is there onsite parking?

Will the Forum be recorded?

The Forum will be livestreamed for those that cannot attend, especially patients. Information on how to view the live videos can be found here.

Do I have to stay for the entire day?

It is recommended that you stay for the entire duration to make the most out of the day. But we understand that you may have other obligations and that certain topics are more relevant to you than others. Attendees can leave the Forum at any time that is convenient. Please note that as lunch is held in Mural Hall, a private area of Parliament House, please locate an RCA staff member to escort you out. You can leave The Theatre at any time without an escort.

Can the venue be accessible by a wheelchair?

Parliament House building – All of the public areas of Parliament House are fully accessible by wheelchair. Please note that Parliament House has a variety of floor coverings, included polished stone and wood, and high-pile carpets.

Parking – Accessible parking is available in the underground carparks, close to the public lifts.

Wheelchairs and strollers - Guests can also borrow wheelchairs and strollers at no charge from the information desk in the marble foyer. Please note that photo ID is required. Please call (02) 6277 5399 for more information.

Other accessibility needs – If you have any other accessibility needs that are not covered in the above, please call Parliament House on 02 6277 5399 or RCA on 02 4862 2768 ahead of CanForum so that we can accommodate.

How do I get a speaking role at the Forum?

CanForum is an annual event and we are always interested in hearing from dynamic speakers who are though leaders in their field, are innovative and believe in challenging the current cancer landscape. Please get in touch via email Eliza Mitchell to discuss speaking opportunities for 2019.

Does the event have a sponsor? Can my organisation sponsor this event?

CanForum 2018 currently has a number of sponsors and supporters. If you are interested in supporting this event, please email Nikki Kerr our Corporate and External Relations Manager

Is there a cloak room and can I leave valuable items i.e a laptop?

There will be a coat rack just outside The Theatre for your use. Items such as lap tops and other valuables should remain with you inside The Theatre as their safety and security cannot be guaranteed.

Will there be media at this event?
